Certificate III in Individual Support

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Course Requirements

All students must:
  • have a desire for personal care work
  • be able to use and have access to a computer with MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
  • have internet access and an email account
  • be able to commit to 10—15 hours study time per week in addition to class attendance
  • be able to commit to the course schedule (2 days per week)
  • be physically fit and able to undertake manual handling and lifting in a safe environment
  • attend an information session which includes assessment of suitability and LLN skills
  • participate in the 4 week work placement component of the qualification
  • be able to obtain a DCSI screening or relevant police check (Status reserves the right to suspend or cancel training where this requirement is not met within 6 weeks of commencement)

Qualification

Successful completion will result in the awarding of CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support. A Statement of Attainment may be issued for partial completion.
